USATF-NJ Long Distance Running Championship Bidding
The annual bid process for USATF-NJ Championship road races has now begun for 2013. Each year, 12-13 races are awarded championship status, granting these races the highest levels of New Balance Grand Prix points for their USATF-NJ competitors, and providing the only Team/Club competition opportunities. The selection meeting will be held in Mid-November and all bidders will be notified within a few days of the meeting whether their bid was awarded or if there are any follow-up questions.
All USATF-NJ Sanctioned road races 5k and longer are eligible for this Championship status. The most important criteria that the Long Distance Running executive committee looks for in a championship race are:
Proven to be a well organized, safe and successful race
Adequate space for a safe and competitive start, finish and running route
Use of a scoring company that understands and has the software to score results following USATF-NJ Team/Club competition rules (Team Declaration rules, double dipping, etc.)
Previous participation in the USATF-NJ Grand Prix (not an absolute requirement, but certainly desirable)
Prize money, if awarded, must be provided to USATF-NJ members in equal or greater amounts than to non-USATF-NJ members
To be considered for Championship status, please print off, fill out, and mail in all of the following forms and the appropriate fees so they are RECEIVED BY Tuesday, November 13th, 2012. Monday is a holiday - please plan accordingly. No faxed bids will be accepted.
- Application For Sanction. Determine & include the national sanction Fee based on the number of expected finishers.
- USATF New Jersey LDR Grand Prix Agreement

- Trademark Sublicense Agreement. Please also review the Guidelines for Using the USATF Insignia and/or Grand Prix Logo.
All Championship events must include the 700 point NBGP logo on the race application. Prior to printing your final application and any advertisements, you must email (preferred) or fax a draft of the race application and/or advertisement to the USATF-NJ office for approval. One of the Long Distance Running executives will be reviewing and approving all Championship race applications. Therefore, you must allow additional time for review and approval of your application.
OPTIONAL Sanction Forms for Special Insurance Situations (mutually exclusive):Request for Certificate of Liability Insurance - Fill this out if a 3rd Party Certificate of Liability is needed by your sponsor or facility. Send separate forms for each 3rd party.
Waiver of Liability Insurance - If you have your own insurance and will not be needing USATF insurance, you must complete this form. Please note that the National fee for events that waive the insurance shall be 10% of the listed National Sanction fee or $10, whichever is greater. Call the office at 973-334-8900 if you need help determining your fees.
In order to waive USATF insurance, you must also send in a 3rd party certificate of insurance with "USA Track & Field, Inc. its employees, directors, assigns and USA Track & Field certified officials" as additionally insured before your sanction is complete. This is a national requirement for waiving USATF insurance and it will be enforced, so certificates provided with wording other than the above will need to be corrected.
