Rules and Regulations
• Athletes compete in their respective 5 year age group at the individual
Grand Prix meets.
• An athlete is awarded either 8 points (USATF-NJ Outdoor Championships)
or 5 points (all other Grand Prix meets) for winning his/her event.
• Scoring will be tabulated for the following categories of competition:
1) Sprints-all running races in distance of 400 meters
and less;
2) Distances- all running & race walking races 800 meters
and over;
3) Jumps – High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump, Pole Vault;
4) Throws – Shot Put, Weight Throw, Super Weight Throw,
Hammer, Discus, Javelin
• Year-end Grand Prix scoring is tabulated in 10 year age groups (ie.
50-59). The athlete with the most points in his/her respective
10-year age group and category is determined to be the Grand Prix
winner.
• There is no limitation on the number of events an athlete can compete
in at each of the Grand Prix meets.
• In order to be declared the Year-End Grand Prix champion an athlete
must compete in at least two of the Grand Prix meets during
the course of the year.
